Northern Virginia Caribou Coffee Stores Join Centennial Celebration

RADFORD -- Caribou Coffee stores in the Northern Virginia region are joining Radford University in its Centennial Celebration by offering two unique and tasty treats worthy of this landmark milestone in the university’s rich history.

Twenty-five Caribou Coffee stores in Northern Virginia, Washington, D. C., and Maryland will join the celebration on March 21-27 by offering two flavorful Radford-specific drinks. Caramel High Rise, one of Caribou Coffee’s best-selling drinks, will be renamed Caramel Highlander High Rise during the celebration week. In addition, the store will offer the Radford Raspberry White Mocha.

Caribou Coffee will donate $1,000 from the proceeds of the drinks to the J. Kendall Whitaker Memorial Scholarship, said RU alumnus Mike Dolinger ’91, director of operations for Caribou Coffee’s east region.

Visitors to Caribou Coffee that week also will be treated to visual displays announcing the stores’ commitment to RU’s Centennial Service Challenge. The idea for Caribou Coffee to help RU celebrate the university’s Centennial was the brainchild of Dolinger and RU Alumni Affairs Director Laura Turk.

“We see this an excellent opportunity for Caribou Coffee to join Radford University in celebrating 100 years of service by the university to the global community,” Dolinger said.

RU is celebrating on March 24 the 100th anniversary of the signing of the charter that created what was then known as The State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Radford. The school became Radford University in 1979.
