RU Author and Professor Tim Poland Presents Public Reading

RADFORD – Radford University English professor Tim Poland will present a public reading from his newest book The Safety of Deeper Water on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m., in the fourth floor study area of RU’s McConnell Library

Tim PolandThe book is a story of Sandy Holston, an elegant fisherwoman and “nurse who wears her hair in a ponytail and prefers a fishing lure as an earring.” Surviving a disastrous marriage, she seeks peace in the small town of Damascus but that peace could be disrupted when her ex-husband is released from prison.

Poland will also present readings on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m., in the Radford Public Library, and Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m., in Floyd County’s Peterman Library.

Poland is also the author of Escapee, a collection of short fiction, and Other Stones, Kinder Temples, a chapbook of poems. His fiction, poetry, and essays have appeared in various literary journals. He is the recipient of a Plattner/Appalachian Heritage Award, and his work has been included in the Best of the Net anthology and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
