Radford University Hires New Vice Provost

RADFORD -- Radford University has appointed Dr. Steven W. Nape as its first Vice Provost for Enrollment Planning and Management.

"We are thrilled that Dr. Nape will be joining our team to enhance the university’s enrollment management efforts," said Provost Wil Stanton. "This position is critical in our efforts to recruit, admit, enroll and retain outstanding students. Dr. Nape has been described as a 'rising star' in this field, and I look forward to working with him."

Steven NapeA native of Lawrenceville, N.J., Nape, 39, began his career at Gordon College in Barnesville, Ga., where he served as Director of Institutional Research and Director of Enrollment Services. Since 2000, he has been part of the administration at Randolph-Macon College, serving as Director of Admissions and, most recently, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid. At Radford University, Nape will have administrative oversight for the Office of Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Registrar’s Office.

Nape earned a B.A. with a double major in philosophy and economics at the University of South Carolina (USC), where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He also earned a Ph.D. in economics at USC.

Married with two sons, Nape will join the RU administration in early May.

Radford University is recognized as a Top 20 Public Master's University in the South by the U.S. News & World Report and a 2009 "Best College in the Southeast" by Princeton Review. Located in the heart of scenic Southwest Virginia, RU features a student body of approximately 9,200, nationally recognized faculty-student collaborations and a dynamic curriculum of more than 140 undergraduate and graduate programs. In the last year alone, RU has opened a state-of-the-art visual and performing arts center and welcomed three new graduate programs: doctoral degrees in nursing practice and physical therapy and a master’s degree in occupational therapy. Outside the classroom, RU supports a culturally diverse student population through a wealth of co-curricular activities and events, outstanding NCAA Division I athletics, a commitment to environmental sustainability and a beautiful campus set alongside the New River near the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Parkway.
