RU Names New Dean of College of Business and Economics

RADFORD -- Radford University has selected Faye Gilbert as dean of the College of Business and Economics. Her responsibilities will include academic leadership, strategic planning, development, alumni affairs and community relations.

Faye GilbertGilbert has previous experience as dean of the J. Whitney Bunting School of Business at Georgia College & State University, where she was instrumental in achieving reaffirmation of accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2007. The school received six best practice mentions from a peer review team. Gilbert also served as associate dean of the MBA program and was a professor of marketing at the University of Mississippi. There she assisted in the development of the Council for Women’s Philanthropy that garnered an endowment of $3 million in its first year. 

“I am very excited to be provided this opportunity to join the community at Radford University. This is an AACSB accredited program that retains and attracts faculty who believe in teaching excellence,” said Gilbert. “The attention provided to students, the administrative leadership and the vision for the future are all signs that the next few years will be very special. I am really looking forward to working with the people at RU as we continue to build on a tradition of excellence.”

Gilbert earned her bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Southern Mississippi and her doctorate in marketing from the University of North Texas where she earned membership in several academic honor societies.

She was named MBA Outstanding Professor in 2001 and received the Elsie M. Hood Outstanding Teacher award from the University of Mississippi. Her work has been featured in such prestigious publications as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Ethics and the Journal of Business Research.

Gilbert’s appointment as dean at RU will take effect on June 1, 2008.
