CVPA Announces Eugene Fellin Scholarship

RADFORD -- As a result of several leadership gifts and pledges, the Radford University College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) announces its drive to endow a scholarship in honor of Dr. Eugene Fellin, the longtime chairman of the department of music.

“Dr. Fellin worked tirelessly to communicate with the faculty, honor their ideas and contributions, and apply his vast experience to moving the music department forward,” said Joseph Scartelli, dean of CVPA.

Eugene FellinA 30-year veteran of the RU faculty who retired recently, Fellin (right) was instrumental in shepherding the department through a series of benchmark evolutions, including the creation of programs in music therapy, music technology and music business, the opera performance travel series, and a resurgence of the RU orchestra program.

“The only way Dr. Fellin was able to sustain his level of stewardship, leadership, mentorship and vision over such a significant period of time was through a real and authentic love for his students, faculty and the ‘art of music,’” said Scartelli.

CVPA encourages those touched by Fellin’s enthusiasm and dedication to join together and commemorate his career that made the RU music department a magnet that attracts talented music students from across Virginia as well as the nation and the world. The Dr. Eugene Fellin Scholarship will be awarded annually to a promising music student in his honor.
