Spring Cinema Symposium at RU is "The Black Cat"
RADFORD Edgar Ulmer’s “The Black Cat,” the first pairing of horror icons Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, will be presented Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m., in Radford University’s Pridemore Playhouse in Porterfield Hall. RU theatre and cinema professor Ted McKosky says, “The Bauhaus design influences make for some startling sets and incredible imagery. Be warned, be very warned, even though this film was made in 1934 it deals with some very mature subject matter by today's standards.” Ulmer is one of the most highly regarded "B" movie directors of all time. When he graduated to "A" ticket movies, McKosky says Ulmer realized he could have more fun and control in the "B"s so he returned. Admission is free and open to the public.
