RU Adds Two to University Advancement Office

RADFORD – The Radford University Office of University Advancement is pleased to announce the hiring of two new directors to enhance the university’s efforts in securing private contributions vital for RU’s long-range goals.

Maq TrivediMaq Trivedi (pictured at right) will serve as the director for the Office of University Advancement with fundraising responsibility for northern Virginia and metro Washington, D.C. He has significant volunteer experience in fundraising. Trivedi, a University of Michigan graduate, worked in the mortgage business in Chicago before his recent move to Radford.

Meredith Marks (see photo below left) will be the assistant director for University Advancement with primary fundraising responsibility for far southwest Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  She comes to RU from New York, where she worked and volunteered with the Robin Hood Foundation. Marks is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the College of Charleston School of Law. She recently passed the South Carolina bar.

Meredith Marks“In the midst of an uncertain economy and state budget cuts, private fundraising is more vital than ever to Radford University,” said Catherine Greenberg, Vice President/Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of the RU Foundation, Inc. “The knowledge and experience that Maq and Meredith bring to RU will allow us to work more closely and carefully with current and prospective donors to assist them in confidently beginning or continuing their contributions to our university.”

One of the goals in RU’s strategic plan, 7-17, is for the university to become one of the nation’s top 50 masters institutions by 2017. In the past year, RU has received state approval to start four new graduate-level programs: a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Masters of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Psychology in Counseling Psychology, and just last week, a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. The DPT program has already received $500,000 in a private donation to fund the university’s first endowed chair, and $100,000 to equip a state-of-the-art laboratory.
