RU Advocacy Day at General Assembly
RADFORD Forty students, a group of faculty, Board of Visitors members and President Penelope W. Kyle took to the halls of the General Assembly Thursday to share the Radford University story with the Commonwealth’s legislators. Called RU Advocacy Day and spearheaded by the Radford University Student Government Association, the event gave the RU students all volunteers an opportunity to become familiar with Virginia’s legislative process and their respective delegates and senators who are gathered for the 2009 session. Norleen Pomerantz, vice president of student affairs, said that this year’s student representation was the largest in the seven-year history of the RU Advocacy Day program and that it featured students who are leaders able share their exemplary experiences on campus. RU’s SGA, the campus chapter of the NAACP, the campus group Men of Standards, and the College of Business and Economics’ Student Managed Investment Portfolio Organization (SMIPO) were among the campus groups represented by the volunteers. The event was listed on the General Assembly calendar as “Radford University Day." (Please see Photo Slide Show) |
