New Web Portal to Launch February 9
RADFORD -- Radford University’s initiative to transform itself into a unified digital campus and facilitate campus communication will take a dramatic step forward on Monday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. with the launch of the MyRU portal. An information and training session will be held at that time in the Bonnie Auditorium to introduce the campus community to use of the MyRU portal system.
“MyRU will provide a gateway to web-based services and information for the campus community by providing enhanced self-service and targeted communication,” said Ed Oakes, director of IT infrastructure. The launch of the MyRU portal is the culmination of a year-long process by an organizational team led by Oakes; co-chair Trae Cotton, dean of students; and technical team lead Jeff Brewster. The project team has implemented an architecture that presents campus information based on the user’s role within the university. Along with a new visual look and feel, this architecture will allow for the addition of new components and features as the new university information system is implemented. “We are thrilled to introduce this new, customizable online access to the campus,“ said Cotton. “The single sign-on access and the ability to customize one’s own page will give our students and those who serve them more efficient and effective access to the RU information and data needed to enhance their experiences.” MyRU will present a page view composed of tabs that are customized to the user’s role (student, faculty, staff, alumni) and will present information through a series of channels that are administered by various campus offices. The MyRU portal will also enable offices and organizations to target their communications specifically. Individual users will receive announcements from on-campus purveyors sent to them directly at MyRU and reduce their individual volume of email. |
