The conservancy comprises approximately 70 acres in pasture and 310 acres in deciduous forest with roughly one mile of frontage on Little River. Beautiful views and trails provide an environment for learning, recreation and contemplation. The Farm at SeluA 1930's farm and replica farmhouse are nearing completion at Selu Conservancy. The Barn and Observatory at SeluSchool, youth and community groups can conduct biological, ecological and astronomical research projects at The Barn, RU's research center and observatory. Prior arrangements with appropriate faculty and staff must be made. The Barn's first floor is a science laboratory for biology and ecology studies. The second floor contains meeting rooms and classrooms to discuss research findings or to take a break from research while enjoying a catered meal. Cleverly disguised as a silo next to The Barn, the Selu Observatory provides a spectacular view of the sky for school, youth and community groups interested in astronomy. College of Visual and Performing ArtsThe college's departments of theatre, art, music, dance and interior design and fashion cultivate the richness of arts offerings in the New River and Roanoke Valleys while preparing students for their life-long goals. Waldron College of Health and Human ServicesThe 58,000 square-foot Waldron Hall houses a health clinic to serve underinsured and uninsured citizens of Southwest Virginia. Services include women’s health, social work, The Pharmacy Connections and speech and audiology services. At the facility's George M. Harvey Sr. Health Information Resource Center students, faculty, patients and the public can access a network of up-to-the-minute health information. The Waldron Clinic's mobile health unit includes a staff of family nurse practitioners and doctor and travels to rural Southwest Virginia areas to provide a variety of services such as speech and hearing services, medical services and referrals to area health practitioners when needed. RU PlanetariumThe Planetarium, on the ground floor of Curie Hall, room 43, has two shows every Tuesday night at 7 and 8. Both shows use the star projector, stereophonic sound and multimedia to entertain and educate audiences about celestial history. The planetarium seats 32. Both Internal and External Host Programs can be designed as either a conference or seminar. Dining services, classroom space, conference facilities, and technologically advanced computer labs are open and accessible for program use at varied times. Off-Campus Classes and Degree ProgramsRU offers continuing education courses and undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, Virginia Western Community College and the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon.
