RU Hosts Winter Commencement Saturday

RADFORD -- Radford University President Penelope W. Kyle will confer 473 degrees during RU’s Winter Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 20, in the Bondurant Auditorium in Preston Hall.

Graduate degrees will be conferred to 72 students and undergraduate degrees to 401 students – all of whom completed their academic requirements during the summer and fall semesters.

Winter CommencementThe College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences and College of Education and Human Development will hold a joint commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. The College of Business and Economics, College of Science and Technology, College of Visual and Performing Arts, and Waldron College of Health and Human Services will hold a joint ceremony at 2 p.m. Doors will open an hour prior to each.

Friday, Dec. 19, will feature a Pinning Ceremony for the School of Nursing graduates at 3 p.m., and a Hooding Ceremony for graduate students at 6:30 p.m. Both events will take place in Bondurant Auditorium. At 7 p.m., the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center Auditorium will host the Donning of the Kente Ceremony, sponsored by the Association of Black Professionals of Radford University.

Commencement ceremonies will also be broadcast by television in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center Auditorium and streamed live online. Visit the RU Home Page for a link to the live stream. Video will be accessible at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

In the event of inclement weather, any cancellation will be announced by 8 a.m. on Saturday on the university marquee on East Main Street, online at http://www.radford.edu, and on public radio 89.9 FM.
