RADFORD – Some children and their families in the New River Valley will have a brighter holiday season this year, courtesy of Radford University’s Residence Hall Association and Sharkey’s in Radford.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, children enrolled in Head Start and those with a parent in the Women’s Resource Center will gather in RU’s Cook Hall to receive presents, meet Santa, enjoy crafts and food.

The association began work in November, collecting money and promoting the event. They had the support of several organizations and businesses when it was announced they were seeking sponsors for the children, including Sharkey’s which donated $360 to help provide gifts.

RU’s Dean of Students Trae Cotton said, “These students have worked very hard on this and have done a tremendous job in supporting our local community.”
