Radford University COBE Advising Center Welcomes New Staff
and New Location

RADFORD -- Two new staff members and an expanded Advising Center for the College of Business and Economics (COBE) will greet COBE students upon their arrival for the fall 2010 semester.

“The new location for the advising center will provide space for our students to gather, talk with each other and interact with our advising group,” said COBE Dean Faye Gilbert. “We look forward to enhancing our services to students, to providing additional computer access in the center and to incorporating an atmosphere of community in the larger space that is the center’s new home.”

Welcoming the nearly 1,500 COBE students to the new center, now located in 001 Whitt Hall, will be Advising Coordinator Sarah Ross ’03, MS ‘08 and Nasim Schwab ’07, assistant advising coordinator. Ross, who holds two degrees from RU – a B.S. in communication and a M.S. in counseling and student affairs - joins COBE from the Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke. Schwab, who has a B.S. in history and economics, from RU returns to campus from Virginia Tech where she was the assignment coordinator for Housing and Dining Services.

”I loved RU and am glad to have come full circle,” said Ross. “It was a perfect fit for me and has prepared me well for what I am doing now.”

In the new COBE Advising Center, Ross and Schwab will be helping COBE students with major selections, class schedule arrangements and other student service issues. Ross said she is looking forward to adding a new level of career development activities like workshops and seminars to maximize the value of the advising center experience for COBE students as well as making it “student friendly.”
