English Instructor Receives Top Book Award
RADFORD The Virginia College Stores Association Book Award Committee has awarded Radford University English instructor Jim Minick the 2008 award for his most recent book Burning Heaven. Lee Culler, a former student of Minick's, nominated the book earlier this year. The committee selects a book by an author that currently resides in Virginia. The award is based on outstanding literary, social, or intellectual merit. Minick will receive the Jefferson Cup and a $500 award at the November VCSA Banquet at Roanoke College. A review of Burning Heaven appeared in a recent edition of the Asheville Arts magazine. |
