English Instructor Receives Top Book Award

RADFORD – The Virginia College Stores Association Book Award Committee has awarded Radford University English instructor Jim Minick the 2008 award for his most recent book Burning Heaven.

Lee Culler, a former student of Minick's, nominated the book earlier this year. The committee selects a book by an author that currently resides in Virginia. The award is based on outstanding literary, social, or intellectual merit. Minick will receive the Jefferson Cup and a $500 award at the November VCSA Banquet at Roanoke College.

A review of Burning Heaven appeared in a recent edition of the Asheville Arts magazine.
