President Kyle Addresses Freshmen, Parents

President Kyle answers questionsRADFORD -- President Penelope W. Kyle met with freshmen students and their parents Friday in a question-and-answer session in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center.

Kyle and a group of RU administrators addressed numerous items including campus safety, student activities, campus and classroom involvement and campus construction.

Residence halls opened Friday, and classes begin Monday.

“Your sons and daughters are part of the most academically prepared class we have ever had here at Radford University,” Kyle told the group. “And they are part of the most diverse class we have ever had at RU.”

Students and parents also heard from Provost Wil Stanton, Athletics Director Robert Linenburg, Vice Provost for Academic Advancement Steve Lerch, Registrar Eugene Carson, Vice President for Finance and Administration Donna VanCleave, Vice President for Student Affairs Norleen Pomerantz, Director of Students Activities Ken Bonk and Dean of Students Trae Cotton.

The number of RU freshmen is expected to exceed 1,900.
