Criminal Justice Program Earns ACJS Certification

RADFORD -- Radford University’s criminal justice program has received certification for its master’s of arts and master’s of science programs from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

ACJS certification recognizes programs for meeting a comprehensive set of quality standards. RU is one of only three institutions nationwide with criminal justice graduate programs that have earned ACJS recognition.

“Certification by Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences is recognition that our program meets the highest professional standards,” said Mary Atwell, chair of RU’s criminal justice department. “We now are able to tell our graduate students that our program is one of a very small number of master’s programs to achieve ACJS certification.”

The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences is an international association established in 1963 to foster professional and scholarly activities in the field of criminal justice. ACJS promotes criminal justice education, research, and policy analysis within the discipline of criminal justice for both educators and practitioners.
