RU President Kyle Appointed to Fulbright Canada Board of Directors
RADFORD Radford University President Penelope W. Kyle has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Educational Exchange Between Canada and the United States. The Foundation for Educational Exchange is a joint bi-national organization which administers the prestigious Canada-U.S. Fulbright program, and ancillary programs such as the Killam Fellowships, the Network on North American Studies in Canada and the Fulbright-Hays Seminar program. President Kyle will be joining a prestigious group of key leaders from universities, government and the private sector in both Canada and the United States. “I am truly honored to have been asked to be part of this renowned organization and look forward to carrying Radford University’s story to a world stage,” Kyle said. "We at the Foundation are pleased to welcome a person of President Kyle’s personal, professional, and intellectual stature to our Board of Directors,” Michael Hawes, CEO of the Foundation for Educational Exchange, said. “At the same time, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to engage more directly in a state which has so much to offer." With more than 30 years of experience in state government, the corporate and legal worlds, and higher education, President Kyle became the sixth, and first, female president of Radford University on June 1, 2005. President Kyle has served in numerous leadership roles in the past. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Board of Directors of PRA, Inc., a publicly traded company. President Kyle’s tenure with the Foundation for Educational Exchange will last from 2009 until 2014. By engaging the brightest minds in academic exchanges, the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program seeks to enhance mutual understanding between the people of Canada and the people of the United States.
