Dedmon Center Roof Comes Down

RADFORD -- The venerable Dedmon Center roof was deflated on April 30 in preparation for the installation of a new roof. Below, watch the time lapse video and video of inside the Dedmon Center after the roof deflation.

The Dedmon Center, opened in 1980, will be fitted with a new steel truss supported roof. By replacing the air-supported roof with a structurally-supported roof, a new air conditioning and air circulation system can be installed throughout the facility, resulting in energy cost savings and a more comfortable environment.

A total of $15.7 million has been earmarked by RU for Dedmon Center renovations as part of the university’s renewed commitment to a strong Division I intercollegiate athletic program. The Dedmon Center is expected to reopen in late fall 2008.
