Radford University Honors Scholarship Benefactors and Recipients

Radford University and the Radford University Foundation honored 105 scholarship benefactors and 94 scholarship recipients on April 5 at the annual Partners in Excellence Celebration.

President Penelope W. Kyle welcomed everyone to the dinner and thanked benefactors for their generous donations on behalf of Radford University and the scholarship winners. 

David DeHart, President of the Radford University Foundation, Inc., announced  21 newly endowed scholarships. Provost Wil Stanton recognized scholarship recipients. President Kyle presented scholarship medals to five new presidential scholarship winners. 

Richard Johnson (right), recipient of the Mae Jennings Presidential Scholarship, was the student speaker. Johnson, a graduating chemistry major, spoke about his experiences at Radford University and thanked benefactors for their support.

R. J. Kirk recently received the medallion for entrepreneurship from Beta Gamma Sigma, a national business honor society designed to promote scholarship, advancement of education in business and integrity in the conduct of business operations. The medallion is awarded to outstanding individuals who combine innovative business achievement with service to humanity. The award was established to recognize individuals and firms who contribute significantly to the vitality and strength of the economy. Kirk has worked with RU in a variety of capacities and serves as rector of the RU Board of Visitors and as a member of the RU Foundation Board of Directors.  More...
