Aaron Barter
Director, Sports Information

Aaron Barter joined the RU staff in September of 2000 after spending the previous five years in intercollegiate athletic administration in Florida.

As the director, Barter's responsibilities include enhancing the University's image through the Intercollegiate Athletic program. He works as the athletic department's media relations manager, publications coordinator, website coordinator, as well as the primary contact between the NCAA, regional and national media outlets.

Dealing as the main contact for the men's basketball, volleyball, men's soccer and baseball programs, Barter is the color commentator for the away men's basketball games on the RU Sports Network.

Before joining the RU team, Barter spent two years as the Sports Information Director at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Prior to his time at EC, Barter served as the compliance officer/assistant to the commissioner of the Sunshine State Conference, an NCAA Division II athletic conference in Orlando, FL and the assistant SID at Florida Tech in Melbourne.

The Boothbay, Maine native is a 1995 graduate of Keene State College with a degree in sports administration. While at the southwest New Hampshire school, Barter played basketball for the then NCAA Division II Owls.

Barter is married to the former Ms. Meghan Eckert 1999 RU graduate and former volleyball standout. The couple resides in Radford.
