Richotte Fourth in Hammer Throw Championships at Penn Relays Philadelphia, Penn. - Three Highlander throwers highlighted final day of competition at Penn Relays at Franklin Field on Saturday afternoon. Brian Richotte (Berkley, Mich.) took fourth in the College Men’s Hammer Throw Championships. His distance was marked at 200’04. The top competitor, J.P. Smolenski from Purdue recorded a distance of 212’09”. Teammate Jeremiah Spence (Riner, Va.) grnered third in the Hammer Throw Collegiate Championships with a mark of 197’06”, while James Nixon (Prince George, Va.) placed 11th (49’06.25) in the Shot Put Collegiate Championships. On Thursday, Tiffany Evans (Dumfries, Va.) and Maurika Quarles (Manassas, Va.) placed in the top-five. Evans claimed first in the Women’s Shot Put Collegiate Championships with a distance of 48’09.50. Quarles placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles Championships. Her time of 58.62 broke the school record by ten tenths of a second. The Highlanders will be back on the track May 13-14 as they travel to Atlanta, GA. to participate in the Reebok Invitational. |
