Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Highlanders compete in day one of the UNC Invitational at the Eddie Smith Field House. The Highlanders post one vicotry for the day.

Sophomore thrower Brian Richotte (Berkley, Mich.) posted a single victory in the weight throw with a mark of 63-00.25. His closest competitor was UNC's Nick Owens who threw a distance of 61-09.75 in the event.

In the men's long jump Ross Bolden (Charlottesville, Va.) and Daniel Oseth (Sterling, Va.) placed 17th (21'01.25") and 20th (20'08.50") respectively.

In the running events Wayne Gore placed 22nd (51.89) and the men's distance medley placed sixth with a time of 10:37.90.

In the women's weight throw, Tiffany Evans (Dumfries, Va.) finished eighth in the event recording a distance of 57'04.25".

Junior sprinter Kwadena Caple (Richmond, Va.) tied for 17th with Shayla Jemmott from N.C. A&T in the long jump with a mark of 16'03.25".

The Highs' Lauren Diggs (Waynesboro, Va.) and Jasselle Cruz (Vineland, N.J.) place 25th (1:02.10) and 28th (1:02.64) respectively in the 400 meter dash.

Day two of the UNC Invitational will start on Saturday at 10 a.m.
