Highs Record Four Top-Ten Performances on Final Day of Georgia Tech Invitational Atlanta, Ga. - The Highlanders record two top-ten finishes on day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational. The meet was held on George C. Griffin Track in Atlanta, Georgia. Senior Maurika Quarles (Manassas, Va.) finished ninth in the 400 meter hurdles (59.66), while teammate Tiffany Evans (Dumfries, Va.) captured eighth place (176-08) in the hammer throw. Evans also recorded a seventh (48-10.75) place finish in Friday’s shot put event. On the men's side in the throwing events sophomores Brian Richotte ( Berkley, Mich.) and Jeremiah Spence (Riner, Va.) placed fourth and seventh respectively. Richotte threw a distance of 204-02 while Spence recorded a distance of 182-09. The women’s 4x400 meter relay team, consisting of Tiffany Street (Midlothian, Va.), Jasselle Cruz (Vineland, NJ), Lauren Diggs (Waynesboro, Va.), and Dena Caple (Richmond, Va.), picked up 11th place. The team clocked a time of 3:58.39. The Highlanders will be back in action May 27-28 when they travel to Randall’s Island, NY for the NCAA Regional Championhsips. |
