Highlanders Compete at the Tar Heel Invitational; Raleigh, N.C. -- Radford's track and field teams competed at the Tar Heel Invitational over the weekend at the University of North Carolina. Dilyn Gerber (Camden, Mich.) and Goran Nava (Castello Di Brianza, Italy) both posted school records. Nava finished third to set a new school record of 8:27.43 in the 3000 meter run. In the men's shot put Gerber also set a school record with a throw of 48-07.25 to finish second. James Nixon (Chesapeake, Va.) earned fourth place in the shot with a throw of 45'05.00''. Brian Richotte (Berkley, Mich.) also earned a fourth place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 57'00.75''. Teammate TJ Stahl (Vienna, Va.) landed sixth place with a throw of 52'04.00'' On the women's side, freshman Tiffany Evans (Dumfries, Va.) earned a fourth place finish with a distance of 44'08.25'' in the shot put. She also captured a fifth place spot in the weight throw with a distance of 53'00". Ashley Camden (Corunna, Ontario, Canada) finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 40'06.75". Beth Hayward (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Maria Geary earned third and fourth respectively in the 5000 meter run. Hayward posted a time of 19:10.94 while teammate Geary ran a time of 19:57.03. Radford will travel to Johnson City, Tenn. for the Niswonger Invitational on Jan. 23 and 24. |
