Hanlon and Geary Pace Highlanders' Season Opener

RADFORD, Va. - Radford University freshman Joel Hanlon (Winchester, Va.) opened the season with a home victory in a dual meet against VMI Friday evening. Hanlon finished the race with a time of 16:13, ten seconds ahead of VMIxs Donnie Michaels. RU freshman Sean Bossman (Yorktown, Va.) finished fifth with a time of 17:01.

For the women, sophomore Maria Geary (Harrisonburg, Va.) was the top runner with a time of 20:31, finishing 15 seconds ahead of Amber Blain from VMI. RU senior Shannon Brown (Oakwood, Va.) and sophomore Daphne Propst (Crimora, Va.) finished the race third (21:08) and fourth (21:18) respectively.

Radford will travel to New Market, Va. on Sept. 18 to compete at the JMU open at 10 a.m. VMI will compete in a tri meet on Sept. 7 in Lexington, Va. at 6:00 p.m.
