Radford Swimming and Diving Signs Mago Agnes
RADFORD, Va. - Radford’s swimming and diving Coach Bill Beecher announced the singing of Agnes Mago (Kecskemet, Hungary) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2005-06 academic year. In addition Samantha Aparte (Richmond, Va.), who has been officially admitted to the university, will also join the Highlanders.
“We are very pleased to have signed an athlete of such caliber. Aggie’s versatility will have a definitive impact for the Highlanders in dual meets and at championships,” stated Beecher. Mago will provide strength in the butterfly, freestyle and individual medley events. In June she placed first in the 200m fly (2:15.38) at the Hungarian Long Course Nationals and third in the same event at the Short Course Nationals in November. Her time of 2:13.41 in the short course placed her in the top 50 in world rankings. Mago has the potential to garner NEC titles as well as receive a bid to the NCAA championships. Aparte swims for NOVA aquatics in Richmond, Va. This year at the Virginia Senior Champs she placed fifth in the 1000 free (10:49.79), eighth in the 1650 free (18:21.88) and 13th in the 500 free (5:16.92). |
