Highs Capture Four Top-Ten Finishes LANDOVER, Md. - The Highlanders posted four top-ten individual finishes on day two of the Northeast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the Prince George's County Sports & Learning Complex. Day 2 Results Junior Julie Brooks (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper) captured third in the 400 IM clocking a time of 4:31.48. This marks her second third place finish in the two days of competition. Radford’s 800 yard freestyle relay and its 200 yard medley relay team finished fifth (7:54.58) sixth (1:53.58) respectively. In the 100 yard breaststroke freshman Kyndal Spradlin (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) finished fifth clocking a time of 1:07.74, while teammate Shauna Bolger (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) finished close behind in sixth with a time of 1:08.12. Sophomore Kelly Wallace (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) notched a fourth place spot as she swam a time of 59.71 in the 100 yard backstroke. Junior Krista Menkedick (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) finished 11th in the event. Freshman Amy Wharen (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Episcopal) and Wallace finished 12th and 13th respectively in the 200 yard freestyle. Wharen posted a time of 1:57.94 and Wallace was clocked at 1:59.64. The final day of competition will conclude Saturday Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. and will include the following events: 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, Three-meter diving, 400-yard freestyle relay. |
