Highlanders Fall to Davidson 179-72 Washington, D.C. -- Davidson College used 12 first place and five second place finishes to defeat Radford University’s women’s swimming and diving team, 179-72 this afternoon from the Dedmon Center Natatorium. Kelly Wallace (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) posted the Highlanders lone victory, taking home first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.40. Wallace also placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:59.51), while Erica Crossman (Stanton, Va./Robert E. Lee) earned a pair of seconds in the 100 freestyle (58.26) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.30). Also placing second for the Highlanders were Julie Brooks (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper), Stacie Bliss (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) and Kris Deckert (Moseley, Va./Clover Hill) in the 100 butterfly (1:02.35), 50 freestyle (26.36) and 500 freestyle (5:26.07) respectively. Deckert lowered her school record by 1.79 seconds. For the Wildcats, 10 different individuals posted first place finishes. The Highlanders will be off until Feb. 20 when they will take part in their first Northeast Conference Championships being held through the 22nd in Landover, Md. |
