Highlanders Place Sixth at Gardner-Webb's Fall College Classic SPARTANBURG, S.C. Radford University placed sixth at Gardner-Webb's Fall College Classic. The Highlanders relay team's posted solid finishes throughout the event, placing third, fourth and sixth (three times). Also, five school record were set this weekend. The host school picked up six wins on Sunday, completing its third straight sweep. The Bulldogs led the three-day, seven-team Fall College Classic from day one. In the relays, the team of Krista Menkedick (Vinton, Va.), Erica Crossman (Stanton, Va.), Raven Wray (Hopewell, Va.) and Joy Bailey (Fairfield, Va.) placed third in the 200 medley (2:00.61) and fourth in the 400 medley with a school record time of 4:19.96. The sixth place team of Bailey, Erin Patterson (Keswick, Va.), Sheila Brosnan (Fairfax, Va.) and Amy Ferry set a school record with a time of 1:47.49 in the 200 free. Also posting sixth place finishes were the 400 and 800 free relays. Individually, Wray set a pair of school records in the 100 and 200 butterfly with times of 1:02.37 (8th) and 2:23.10 (13th). Menkedick's 10th place finish in the 200 back was also a school record (2:17.81). GWU (12-4) posted 761 points on the weekend to easily outdistance second-place Georgia Southern, which had 646.5 points. North Florida followed in third place with 551.5 points, while Wingate was fourth with 464, Catawba fifth with 271, Radford sixth with 177 and North Carolina A&T seventh with 129. |
