Highlanders Downed by Washington and Lee, 122-115 RADFORD, Va. -For the second consecutive day, the Radford University Swimming and Diving (2-8) team dropped a close meet, this time 122-115 to Washington and Lee, this afternoon at the Dedmon Center. They have lost their last two meets by a combined 17 points. Freshman Julie Brooks in just her third meet, posted a pair of wins and a second place finish and improved on two of her own school records. Brooks took home wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.80) and set records with a win in the 200 intermediate medley (2:16.68) and a second in the 200 butterfly (2:16.73). Erica Crossman also picked up a win in the 1000 freestyle (11:37.99), while Tina Rogers earned victories in the one and three-meter dives. The 400 medley relay team of Krista Menkedick, Lindsey LeCroy, Raven Wray and Joy Bailey also turned in a first place performance with a time of 4:24.07. Kristine Holda paced the Generals with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles and was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that posted a win in the final race of the day to help them earn the victory over the Highlanders. The Highlanders will travel to Greensboro, N.C. on Jan. 31 to face North Carolina A&T at 4 p.m. |
