Grant Adds Four For Upcoming Season

RADFORD, Va.-- Radford University golf coach Michael Grant will welcome four new women’s golfers into the Highlander family this fall. Grant has signed three women’s golfers to National Letters of Intent during the late signing period. Lara Peffley, Stephanie Whitmore and Grace Franceschelli will all join the Highlanders as freshman in the fall.

In addition, Grant will welcome Liz Pierpoint into the program as a walk-on.

"I believe each of these players has the ability to be successful and each will have an immediate impact on our program," Grant said.

Peffley, a native of Lebanon, Pa., was a four-year letter winner at Cedar Crest High School. She earned the coaches’ award her junior and senior years ,playing for coach Rick Dissinger. In addition to strong play on the course, Peffley is a National Honors Society member and was a four-year honors student in high school.

As a senior at Springfield North High in Springfield, Ohio, Whitmore was named the All-County and All-Area Player of the Year, as well as earning a spot on the All-Dayton Area First Team as both a junior and a senior. She was a district qualifier and took medalist honors at 15 regular season tournaments her senior year. She was her high schools number one player all four years, earning both MVP awards while serving as team captain. She also earned the scholar athlete award her senior year.

A native of Auburn, N.Y., Franceschelli began playing on the Auburn High School varsity golf team in the seventh grade. She led them to four Divisional and Sectional Championships from 2001-2004. She was named First Team All League for golf during those four years as well leading the team to a 55-2 record. Franceschelli is also an Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.

Pierpoint played on the boys varsity team as a junior and senior at Kings Park High School in Kings Park, N.Y. She placed in fourth place or better in all eight of summer tournament she participated in over the past two years.
