Highlanders Drop Two At Denver Tournament

DENVER, Colo.-- Radford volleyball fell 3-0 to Syracuse host Denver Saturday in its final matches of the Denver University Invitational. (Denver Box Score)(Syracuse Box Score)

RU fell to Denver, 20-30, 23-30, 16-30 in the afternoon match.

Senior Tiffany Guthrie (Littleton, Colo.) led the Radford attack versus the Pioneers, collecting 11 kills. Freshman Josie Hanners (Richmond, Va.) tallied 30 assists and nine digs in the game. Junior Elizabeth Aldredge (Richmond, Va.) also socre five aces for RU. Lisa Hunter led Denver with 10 kills.

Syracuse beat the Highlanders 27-30, 24-30, and 13-30 in the nightcap.

Guthrie again led Radford, posting 15 kills and only three errors for a .429 hitting percentage. Senior Patricia Barth (Virginia Beach, Va.) collected 10 digs to pace the Highs' defensive efforts. Hanners had 32 assists in the effort.

Guthrie was named All-Tournament for her efforts.

RU falls to 2-8 on the season and will take a week off before facing Birmingham-Southern for its first Big South match of the season. The Highlanders travel to Birmingham next Sunday for a 3:00 pm (ET) match.

Syracuse improves to 11-1 and Denver moves to 4-5.
