Radford Drops Third Match At Jefferson Cup Tournament CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-- Radford volleyball dropped its third match at the Fairfield Inn Jefferson Cup Tournament, falling 3-0 to Duquesne on Saturday morning at the University of Virginia’s Memorial Gym. (Box Score) The Highlanders (2-5) lost to the Dukes 27-30, 24-30, 18-30. RU placed two players in double-figure kills, as junior Divona Cox (Virginia Beach, Va.) and senior Tiffany Guthrie (Littleton, Colo.) recorded 14 and 10 kills respectively. Junior Elizabeth Aldredge (Richmond, Va.) led the highs with nine kills and three aces. Guthrie also had four blocks (three solo, and one block assist). Freshman Josie Hanners (Richmond, Va.) had 37 assists. Duquesne (4-4) had three players in double figure kills, with Diana Wuebker tallying 17 to lead the Dukes. Stephanie Hopkins had 10 kills and 11 assists. Cox was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts. She also tallied 10 kills during Friday's matches. Radford returns to action Friday when they will travel to Denver for the university of Denver Tournament. The Highlanders will face Washington State on Friday at 7:00 pm and Syracuse and host Denver Saturday. |
