RU Volleyball Earns First Victory Of The Season WORCESTER, Mass.--Radford volleyball picked up its first victory of the season, defeating Siena 3-2 in the first round of the Holy Cross Invitational Tournament Friday evening at the Hart Center. (Box Score) The Highlanders (1-1) rallied from game deficits of 1-0 and 2-1, winning the final two games of the match to earn the victory. Final game scores were 27-30, 30-27, 25-30, 30-27, 15-9. Siena falls to 0-1 on the season. Senior Kate McHugh (North Branford, Conn.) paced RU with a 13 kill, 13 dig double-double. Junior Elizabeth Aldredge (Richmond, Va.) had 20 digs for the Highlanders and sophomore Rachel Newton tallied 15. Aldredge and McHugh each tallied seven blocks while Aldredge had three aces. Freshman setter Josie Hanners (Richmond, Va.) had 35 assists in the effort. Siena’s Christie Gustafson led all attackers with 19 kills while Nadiege Honore had 11 kills. Amy Christensen had 18 digs for the Saints. Radford will play two matches tomorrow in the Holy Cross Tournament, facing Youngstown State at 10:00 am and host Holy Cross at 7:00 pm. Siena also faces Holy Cross and YSU, playing the Crusaders at 1:00 pm and the Penguins at 4:00 pm. |
