Highlanders Fall To Coastal Carolina RADFORD, Va.--Radford volleyball lost its home opener Friday night to Big South rival Coastal Carolina, 3-0. The loss is the ninth straight for RU, which falls to 2-10 overall and 0-2 in Big South play. (Box Score) The Lady Chants picked up their first League win, improve to 1-2 in conference and 8-6 overall. The Lady chanticleers placed two players in double-figure kills, with sophomore Alicia Meyers scoring 11 and sophomore Laura Obert tallying 10 kills. Junior Jennifer Hampton had 24 assists for CCU while junior Krista Kimble had five total blocks. Senior Tiffany Guthrie led the RU attack with 10 kills. Junior Divona Cox and senior Kate McHugh each registered eight kills and three digs. Senior Bliss Mulligan recorded 10 digs to pace the RU defense. Freshman Josie Hanners collected 28 assists in the loss. Both teams return to action tomorrow at 2:00 pm with Big South contests. Radford will host Charleston Southern while Coastal Carolina heads to Liberty. |
