Assistant Track and Field Coaches

Scott Corrado/Throws

Scott CorradoCorrado is in his third year as the primary throws coach assistant for the RU track and field program.

In two years with the Highlanders, Corrado helped a young group of throwers garner ten All Conference honors, including a pair of conference champions. During the 2003-04, Corrado guided two athletes that competed in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regional, Tiffany Evans in the shot put and Jeremiah Spence in the discus. Evans also went on to earn Junior All-American honors in the hammer throw at the 2004 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Prior to Radford, he spent seven seasons as an assistant at the University of Detroit Mercy.

Under his guidance, Titan throwers won 29 conference championships and six Midwestern Collegiate League and Horizon League Field Newcomer of the Year awards.

Before entering the collegiate ranks, he served as a coach at Fraser, Bishop Foley and University of Detroit Jesuit High Schools.

Bruce Berry enters into his first year with the Radford Track and Field program as an assistant coach. He comes to Radford from the University of Akron where he served as an assistant coach for two years. At Akron Berry produced one First Team All-MAC performer in the men’s 200 meter at the indoor conference meet and 7 NCAA Regional Qualifiers for the outdoor track and field season.

Prior to Akron, Berry was the Head Coach at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey from 1997-02. During this time Berry acquired three New Jersey State Team Championships and coached 24 N.J. All-State First Team performers, 21 National Scholastic Digest First Team All-Americans and six USATF Junior National Team members.

Berry completed his collegiate career at the University of Alabama where he was a twelve-time All SEC Honoree. From 1984-87 he attended the University of Virginia where he received All-ACC honors five times. Also during his collegiate career he was a nine-time NCAA All-American qualifier in the 110 meter hurdles, 400 hurdles, 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay; a six-time TAC, USATF Senior National qualifier in the 400 hurdles and a two-time Olympic trials qualifier in that same event.

Berry graduated from the University of Alabama where he earned a B.S. in Education in 1990. He now resides in Christiansburg, Va. with his wife, Angela, of six years and his three-year-old daughter Brittany.
