Taylor Garner Pitcher of the Week Honors

Charlotte, N.C. - Radford freshman Ashley Taylor (Ringgold, Va.) earned New Balance Pitcher of the Week honors for softball, announced today by the League Office. It is the second time this season, she has garnered this distinction.

Taylor went 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA on the road against Conference foes Liberty and Birmingham-Southern. She struck out 16 batters and did not allow a walk in 13 innings of work. The rookie tossed a three-hit complete game shutout versus the Panthers, striking out eight batters. Against the Lady Flames, she went six innings and allowed just one run on six hits and tallied eight more strikeouts.

She helped the Highlanders to an 8-4 Conference finish, the most wins since the 1998 team finished 10-4 and the third most in school history. In her freshman campaign, she went 5-1 in Big South games with a 1.08 ERA, 41 strikeouts, just three walks and two complete-game shutouts. She was 4-0 away from Dedmon Center Field and 3-0 after a game one loss.

Radford (36-23) concludes its regular season on Friday, May 6 with a non-conference doubleheader at home against Campbell. First pitch is slated for 3 pm.
