Wohlgemuth, Felix Take Weekly Conference Awards

Radford, Va. -- – Radford’s Lara Wohlgemuth (Centreville, Va./Chantilly) and Breanna Felix (Spring Valley, Calif./Mount Miguel) were named Choice Hotels Big South Player and New Balance Pitcher of the Week respectively, announced the Conference office.

Wohlgemuth batted .636 (7-11) with a triple, RBI, five runs scored and a .733 on base percentage in four games last week. She went 5-for-5 with two walks and three runs scored in a double header sweep of Liberty. Dating back to her final at bat in game one at JMU on Wednesday, she is 7-for-8 with four walks, a sacrifice bunt in 13 plate appearances.

Felix went 2-0 last week with complete game victories over James Madison and Liberty. She tossed an inning of shutout relief in each of her two relief stints. Against JMU, she struck out a career high 13 batters. She finished the week, striking out 22 and walking four in 22 innings of work.

The Highlanders finished the regular season 31-30 and will be heading to Birmingham, Ala. for the Big South Tournament from May 13-15.
