Highlanders Finish Fourth; Will Face Birmingham-Southern in First Round of Big South Championships
Radford, Va. --Radford University’s softball team finished the regular season in fourth place in the Big South with a 6-6 Conference record and 31-30 overall record. The Highlanders will face fifth seed and host Birmingham-Southern in the first round of the Big South Softball Championship on Thursday, May 13 at 11 a.m. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished the regular season with a 9-3 Conference record to claim the top spot and the bye. Winthrop (8-4), the number two seed will face seventh-seeded Charleston Southern (3-9) at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Third-seeded Coastal Carolina (6-6) will face sixth-seeded Liberty (4-8) at 3 p.m. on Thursday. The winner of the Radford-Birmingham-Southern game will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the second round on Thursday at 5 p.m. The winners of the Winthrop-Charleston Southern game and the Coastal Carolina-Liberty game will play in the final contest on Thursday at 7 p.m. The consolation games and winner's bracket semifinals will be played Friday. The Championship game begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Every game of the 2004 Tournament will be played at the BSC Softball Park and can be viewed via live StatCasts.
