Drexel Named Big South’s Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. – Freshman shortstop Amber Drexel (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named Big South Player of the Week, announced Thursday evening by the conference office. She helped the Highlanders to their first four wins of the season last week.

Drexel went 5-for-9 with a pair of doubles and 11 RBI in wins over North Carolina A&T and Maryland Eastern Shore. She tied the school record twice with 5 RBI in a game twice. In those four games, she also scored six runs, walked four times and had a sac fly and sac bunt. So far this season, she leads the team with a .450 batting average and 12 RBI.

The Highlanders are in Charlotte, N.C. this weekend for the Charlotte Tournament. They will begin play today against Stony Brook and Tulsa at 9 and 11 a.m.
