Pair of Highlanders Named to Softball All-Tournament Team Rock Hill, S.C. - Senior Ashleigh Brooks and junior Donita Brady were named to the Big South All-Tournament team. The announcement came shortly after Liberty claimed the their first title with a 1-0 victory over Winthrop in the Championship game. Brooks closed out her career with a solid performance in the field and at the plate. The thirdbaseman was perfect in the field, going 25 attempts (11 putouts, 14 assists) without an error. At the plate, she batted .308 with a team-high five runs, a double and two RBI. Brooks also set a new Radford career record with her 66th walk against Liberty. She ended this season with 25 a new single-season school record. Brady was one of two Highlanders who batted over .500 for the tournament. She finished .529 (9-17) at the plate, with a RBI and three runs. She posted a hit in each of the four games. The rest of the 2002 All-Tournament team is as follows: Lauren Yates-Coastal Carolina, Jennifer Schmidt-Coastal Carolina, Carol Douglas-Winthrop, Katy Agee-Winthrop, Kelli Johnson-Winthrop, Jennifer Hurley-Liberty, Ali Thompson-Liberty, Lauren Hahn-Liberty, and Amanda Goc-Liberty. Ali Thompson was awarded the tournament most valuable player. |
