Men's Soccer Team Faces No. 4 Seed Liberty in the First Round of the Big South Tournament

RADFORD, Va. -- Radford's Men's soccer team will be heading to Birmingham Ala. as the fifth seed to play in the Big South Tournament this Thursday. The Highlanders finished the season with an overall record of 7-5-4 and 3-3-1 in the Big South. Radford will match up against fourth seeded Liberty at 6:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, at BSC Soccer Park.

Leading the Highlanders on offense will be junior Patrick Colas (Rennes, France) who leads the team with 14 points this season. Colas finished the season with a team-high six goals, three of which were game winners, to go along with two assists. Also leading the charge for the Highlanders will be junior Romain Maudire (Rennes, France) who was second on the team with four goals scored. Maudire also tallied two assists to give him 10 points on the year, second on the team.

Between the pipes for the Highlanders will be junior Omar Zinoveev (Young, Uraguay). In his first season as starter in goal Zinoveev posted a 6-4-4 record with a 1.27 goals against average and 85 saves. Zinoveev has the best save percentage .810, and saves per game 5.67 in the Big South.

Entering the tournament head coach Spencer Smith is just two wins shy of his 100th win at Radford. The Highlanders will need to reach the championship game in order for Smith to reach this accomplishment. If the Highlanders advance to the semifinals they will face the winner of the match up between top-seeded Birmingham Southern and eighth-seeded High Point at 6:30 pm on Friday. The championship game will take place at 3:00 pm (ET) on Sunday.
