Colas Named Big South Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week RADFORD, VA. - Radford University freshman Patrick Colas (Rennes, France) was named Big South Conference Men’s Soccer Player-of the-Week today by the Big South Conference. He becomes the first BSC Player-of-the-Week for the 2003 season. Colas tallied both Radford University goals last weekend as the Highlanders split in the inaugural Highlander Classic played at the newly dedicated Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium. In the Mercer contest on Friday, his goal, a penalty kick, stood as the lone goal of the match as the Highlander blanked Atlantic Sun preseason favorite and 2002 NCAA Tournament semi-finalist Mercer University 1-0. Colas second goal of the week and tournament, came with just under 15 minutes to play against Delaware on Sunday knotting the game at 1-1. The Highlanders eventually bowed to the Blue Hens 2-1 thus earning a weekend split. Colas leads the Highlanders (1-1) back into action this weekend as RU travels to ‘Our Nation’s Capital’ to face A-10 member George Washington University at 2 p.m. GWU scored three goals in the last 7:45 of the match to down RU 3-1 last season in Radford. |
