Sokolik Garners Second Team VaSID All-State Honors Blacksburg, Va. - Radford senior Erik Sokolik (Scottsdale, Az./Horizon) was named to the VaSID All-State Men’s Soccer second team, announced yesterday from Blacksburg, Va. He was just one of two Big South players to be honored. Sokolik had a breakout senior campaign. Named to the Big South’s All-Conference second team in 2003, he started all 18 games for Highlanders, leading the team with six assists and was second on the team with six goals and 18 points, all career highs. He finished his career with 15 assists, tying him for sixth most all-time at Radford, to go along with seven goals and 29 points during his four years at Radford. Virginia Commonwealth forward Matthew Delicate was named player of the year, while Virginia Tech head coach Oliver Weiss was name coach of the year. The teams are voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. |
