The Highlanders kick-off the 2002 schedule with a pair of Conference USA foes, hosting Charlotte on August 31 at 7 p.m., then traveling to face the University of Louisville, in the opening round of their tournament on September 6.

After playing Western Kentucky (September 8) in the second day of the U-of-L Tournament, the Highlanders will take a six-day break, as they prepare for the Big South season opener at Elon University on September 14.

Following the BSC opener, Radford will make their first trip back to Durham, N.C. on September 18, since the Highlander snapped Duke University’s 23-game home match winning streak in 2000. Returning to home for a pair of non-conference games against George Washington (Sept. 22) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 24), the ‘Highs hit the road for a league game at Charleston Southern on September 28.

Before returning home RU will make a stop in Raleigh, N.C. to face N.C. State (Oct. 2) in the second of two games against the perennial soccer power conference, ACC, on the 2002 docket.

After playing six of the first nine games away from Dedmon Center Stadium, the Highlanders return home for a season long four-game home stand. That home stand begins with defending BSC Champion Coastal Carolina (Oct. 5). After non-conference games against regional powers Davidson (Oct. 12) and James Madison (Oct. 17) RU closes out the home stand against BSC rival Liberty on October 22.

Radford will close out the month of October with three games in five days playing at Birmingham Southern and Alabama A&M on October 26 and 27 respectively and host league foe Winthrop on October 30.

The Highlanders play their final home contest on November 2 against High Point University before closing out the regular season at UNC Asheville on November 7.
