Radford Men's Soccer Shutsout Louisville, 2-0 to Advamce to Championship Game in The Louisville-Seelbach Classic

Louisville, Ky. - The Radford University men's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout victory over Louisville Friday night in Cardinal Park. The Highlanders improved to 2-0 on the season, While the Cardinals fell to 1-2.

Senior All-American canidate T.J. Rolfing (Souix Falls, SD) tallied both RU goals and walk-on goalkeeper Marc Smith (Fredricksburg, Va.) collected his second consecutive shutout in as many career games, to lead RU to their second victory of the season over a Conference USA opponent.

The Highlanders came out early in the second half and took advantage of the Cardinals. Rolfing scored in the 48th minute off a shot deflection to put Radford up 1-0. Then in the 64th minute, Jonathan Hooker's (Woodbridge, Va.) cross found Rolfing for his second goal of the evening.

After a scoreless match in the first half, RU was able to exploit the Cardinals who wrere playing with a man down after senior Cameron Payne received a red card in the 36th minute. The Cardinals had a chance to score off a Fernando Tolomelli penalty kick late in the first half but Radford keeper Smith registered the save.

Radford will play Western Kentucky, the 2-0 winner of the first game on Sunday at noon while the Cards will host UNC Asheville at two for the final game of the Seelbach Classic.
