Radford Golf In Fifth Place After Big South Tournament Day One

NINETY-SIX, S.C.-- Radford placed two golfers in the top 10 to place fifth after day one at the 2005 Palmetto Utility Protection Service Big South Conference Men’s Golf Championships, being played at The Patriot at Grand Harbor. The Highlanders shot a 304 on the first 18 holes, and trail fourth-place High Point by just six strokes.

Senior Aaron Summers (Floyd, Va.) took the early lead for the Highlanders with an even par 72, placing him tied for third overall. Sophomore Josh Meador (Glen Allen, Va.) is tied for seventh with a 73. Freshman Hampton Ballard (Pearisburg, Va.) fired a 78, good for a tie for 25th place. Junior Chris Bagg (Christiansburg, Va.) tallied an 81 to place tied for 29th. Sophomore Robert Nuon’s (Centreville, Va.) 85 rounded out the day, putting him tied for 34th place.

Coastal Carolina paced the seven-team field with a 283. Coastal Carolina’s Brad Robinson leads the field with a 68.

The tournament continues Tuesday and concludes Wednesday with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Radford’s Tuesday tee times begin at 9:15 am.
