Radford Golf Seeded Sixth, Seventh For Big South Tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Radford’s men’s and women’s golf teams will be sixth and seventh seeds in the 2005 Palmetto Utility Protection Service (PUPS) Golf Championships the League announced today.

The Conference has also moved the site of the 2005 Palmetto Utility Protection Service (PUPS) Golf Championships to The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Greenwood, S.C. The change was made due to unplayable conditions at Greenwood Country Club, the original site of the Championships. The 2005 PUPS Big South Women’s and Men’s Golf Championships begin this weekend with the women’s event held April 10-13, followed by the men’s tournament April 17-20. The three-day, 54-hole events are free and open to the public. The schedules are as follows:

Women’s Championship
Sun., April 10 Practice round 12:30pm ET
Mon., April 11 First round 8:00am ET
Tues., April 12 Second round 8:30am ET
Wed., April 13 Final round 8:30am ET

Men's Championship
Sun., April 17 Practice round 12:30pm ET
Mon., April 18 First round 8:30am ET
Tues., April 19 Second round 8:30am ET
Wed., April 20 Final Round 8:30am ET

Each practice round day will culminate with the Big South’s Awards Banquet, which will feature the announcements of the annual award winners and half of the All-Conference Teams. The remaining All-Conference performers will be determined by their finish in the Conference Championship. The Big South Conference men's and women's champion earn an automatic berth in the 2005 NCAA Regionals.

Meanwhile, the Conference also announced today the seedings for the Championships, which are used to determine first round pairings and tee times. On the women’s side, Coastal Carolina claimed the No. 1 seed, followed by Birmingham-Southern, High Point and Winthrop. Associate women’s golf member Bucknell received the No. 5 seed, Charleston Southern sixth, Radford seventh and associate women’s golf member Holy Cross eighth.

The Chanticleers also earned the No. 1 seed in the men’s championship, followed by Charleston Southern, Winthrop and High Point. Liberty (fifth), Radford (sixth) and Birmingham-Southern (seventh) round out the men’s seedings.

Radford’s golf teams are currently competing in the Draper Valley Invitational at Draper Valley Country Club in Draper, Va.
