Highlanders Sign Northern Virginia Standout Goodin to National Letter of Intent

RADFORD, Va. – Radford University Head Coach Byron Samuels announced the signing of Chris Goodin to a National Letter of Intent. Goodin’s signing was the first of Coach Samuels' tenure, after he was named the school’s fifth coach at a press conference on Monday afternoon.

Goodin, a 6-5, 215 swingman, averaged 27 points per game for Mike Harris at Lee High School in Northern, Va. Finishing his senior season with 600 points, Goodin captured 2002 Liberty District Player-of-the-Year honors adding nine rebounds and three assists per game for the Lancers. He accumulated more than 1,300 points in his four-year career at Lee, ending as the school’s all-time leading scorer.

“We are certainly pleased to get someone of Chris’ ability," stated Samuels. "When you add him to the incoming freshmen class, the quality and depth of the class is very good."

Goodin scored over 30 points in 10 of his 22 contests as a senior. His 42 points against Langley on snapped his pervious career high of 40 points he scored earlier in the season against Wakefield. Most recently Goodin ended his High School career at the MCI Center in the Jordan Brand Capital City Classic as a member of the Capital All-Stars.

Goodin joins 6-1, 175 pound point guard Whit Holcomb-Faye (Winston-Salem, N.C./ R.J. Reynolds HS) and 6-6, 240 pound forward Chris Prince (Oxon Hill, Md. /Oxon Hill HS), who RU inked during the early signing period.
