Zaharias, Coley Decide To Leave Radford Program

RADFORD, Va. -- Radford University Men’s Basketball coach Byron Samuels announced today that rising senior Kyle Zaharias and junior college transfer J.J. Coley will not be playing basketball for the Highlanders next season.

Zaharias, a 6-9, 245-pound center from Midlothian, Va. has decided not to return to the program for personal reasons. He averaged 3.6 points and 2.9 rebounds last season, his junior year.

“We thank Kyle for his contribution to our program and wish him well with his future,” Samuels said.

Coley, a transfer from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla., must attend to family matters during the upcoming season. A 6-6, 240-pound forward Coley averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds in his first year at Hillsborough. He signed with RU during the early signing period last fall.

“We admire J.J.’s decision to put his family first and will miss his leadership on and off the court,” Samuels said. We wish he and his family well.”
